Matthew 13:44-45

The kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure hidden in a field.  When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his JOY went and sold all he had and bought that field.  Again, the kingdom of Heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls.  When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.”

If Indeed I have found this pearl of great price, this treasure of infinite worth, then NOTHING in this world is worth holding on to.  My joy, my hope, my life, are all found in the Kingdom of Heaven.  They are found in the one who has gone before me to prepare a place for me.  My life on this planet is but a vapor, a puff of smoke.  My life with my Savior…ETERNITY.  My feeble little human brain has not grasped the meaning of eternity with Jesus.  If it had, then I would not be so drawn to the things of this world.  I would not be so concerned about my momentary comfort.  I would never trust in my power or ability, but in the one who is all wisdom and strength.  With my eyes set upon the unseen, the things yet to come.  With my eyes fixed on Jesus the author and perfecter of my faith.  With my heart fully trusting in the one who is my Lord, Redeemer, Counselor, Protector, Provider, Friend,  the things of this world grow strangely dim in His light.  These light and momentary afflictions, seem to be just that…light and momentary.   I would never worry about tomorrow, and what things I would eat or drink, trusting fully that the God who owns the cattle on a thousands hills knows my needs and delights in providing them.  I wouldn’t hold on tightly to my dreams and desires, instead I would say, ” Thy will be done.”  I would freely give back all He has given, in order for others to find this TREASURE OF GREAT VALUE.
